Kit Set Up Guides

Our accessory system allows the Seavu Explorer to be used in a wide range of applications.

Here’s a few guides on quick and easy application set-up.

Drop Camera

The Seavu Explorer can be used as a drop camera for livestreaming underwater footage at various depths.

For this application, you will need:

      • Explorer
      • Weight
      • Drift Fin
      • Cable Reel or Hand Reel
      • Short Strain Relief
      • Buoy (optional)
      • Cable Fastener (optional)

Assembly Steps:

  1. Begin by attaching the weight and then the drift fin to the Explorer. If needed, additional weights are available for purchase and can be stacked to enhance stability in strong currents.
  2. Insert the livestream cable receiver into the Explorer. Fasten the short strain relief onto the cable, and depending on the desired camera angle, clip it to one of the top anchor points.
  3. To suspend the Explorer at your desired depth, you can attach the buoy to the cable. Determine the length at which you want to suspend the Explorer and secure the buoy to the cable by looping the cord around the cable and over the buoy, then pull to tighten.
  4. When using the buoy, you can let out the livestream cable, allowing the Explorer to drift into action, such as capturing a bait ball.
  5. If you need to maintain a fixed length or depth for the cable, the Cable Fastener can be used.
  6. Important Note: The drop camera application should only be used when the boat motor is turned off or in neutral.
Drifting

Utilizing the Seavu Explorer for Livestreaming Underwater Footage While Drifting at Different Depths

For this application, you will need:

  • Explorer
  • Weight
  • Drift Fin
  • Cable Reel or Hand Reel
  • Long strain relief
  • Release Clips (optional)
  • Cable Fastener

Assembly Steps:

  1. Begin by attaching the weight and then the drift fin to the Explorer. If necessary, additional weights are available for purchase and can be stacked to enhance stability, especially in strong currents.
  2. Insert the livestream cable receiver into the Explorer. Secure the long strain relief onto the cable and then clip it to the rear anchor point.
  3. To keep your fishing line and lure within the camera’s view while drifting, you can use our Release Clips. Attach the release clip to the top anchor points on the Explorer by loosening the bolts with the included Allen keys. Insert the release clip and re-tighten the bolts.
  4. Position the large release clip on the middle and end bolts, while the small release clip should be positioned on the front and middle bolts.
  5. You can adjust the line grip tension by pushing the slider on the clip backward.
  6. Deploy the Explorer from the back of the boat, and when you reach your desired drift depth, secure the livestream cable with the Cable Fastener.
  7. Please note that the drop camera application should only be used when the boat motor is turned off or in neutral
Trolling

Using the Seavu Explorer for Underwater Livestreaming While Trolling

For this application, you will need:

  • Explorer
  • Troll Fin
  • Cable Reel
  • Long Strain Relief
  • Release Clip (optional)
  • Cable Fastener

Assembly Steps:

  1. Attach the troll fin to the Explorer. The troll fin comes with a built-in 500g weight and does not require additional weighting.
  2. Insert the livestream cable receiver into the Explorer.
  3. Fix the long strain relief onto the cable and clip it onto the anchor point of the Explorer.
  4. To place your fishing line and lure within the camera’s view while trolling, you can use our Release Clips. Attach the large release clip to the top middle and end anchor points on the Explorer by loosening the bolts with the Allen keys included, then insert the release clip and tighten the bolts. Adjust the line grip tension by pushing the slider on the clip backward.
  5. Deploy the Explorer from the back of the boat when traveling at very low speed being careful to avoid any propellers. Release the desired length of cable (a short corner is recommended) and  fasten the livestream cable to a boat cleat or rail using the Cable Fastener.
  6. You can now increase your speed to your desired trolling speed.
  7. The troll fin is designed to keep the Explorer approximately 1 meter below the surface.
  8. Please ensure that you stay within a maximum speed of 8 knots or 15 km/h.
Seafloor

The Seavu Explorer can be used to livestream underwater footage from the seafloor.

For this application, you will need:

  • Explorer
  • Weight (optional)
  • Cable Reel
  • Short strain relief
  • Seafloor Stand
  • Burley pot (optional)
  • Cable fastener

Assembly Steps:

  1. Start by attaching the Seafloor Ball Adapter to the Explorer. If the current is strong, you may choose to add Weight for stability.
  2. Insert the livestream cable receiver into the Explorer. Fix the short strain relief onto the cable, and then clip it to the center, top anchor point.
  3. The Seafloor Stand is equipped with a fin that will naturally point in the direction of the current. Adjust the stand’s legs to your preferred height. Spreading out the stand legs can increase stability in stronger currents.
  4. Secure the Explorer onto the stand by placing the ball mount into the arm on the stand. Adjust the direction and angle of the Explorer as needed, then tighten the arm to set it in place.
  5. If desired, you can fit an optional Burley Pot by clipping it to the O-ring on the Seafloor Stand.
  6. Deploy both the Explorer and Seafloor Stand from the side of the boat.
  7. Use the Cable Fastener to hold the cable at the desired length. If the boat is swinging, ensure there’s enough slack in the cable to prevent the Seafloor Stand from being pulled.
  8. Please note that the Seafloor application should only be used when the boat is anchored.
Extension Pole

The Seavu Explorer can be used to livestream underwater footage with an extension pole.

For this application, you will need:

  • Explorer
  • Weight
  • Cable Reel, Hand Reel or Pole Cable
  • Pole Adapter
  • Painters Pole with a 3/4″ 5 thread fitting (not included)

Assembly Steps:

  1. Begin by screwing the Pole Mount adapter into a painter’s pole. We’ve designed this setup to avoid the need for an expensive extension pole – any painter’s pole with a standard 3/4″ 5-thread fitting will work perfectly.
  2. Attach the weight to the Explorer, and then secure the Pole Mount to it. Afterward, insert the receiver.
  3. Please note that the Explorer and action camera will be positioned upside down in this configuration. Ensure that the action camera’s orientation lock is OFF to allow the camera to adjust itself correctly.
  4. The Extension Pole application should only be used when the boat is anchored or drifting.
